The South Dakota Department of Human Services (DHS) is on a mission to assist and serve anyone with disabilities statewide, including those people with combined hearing and vision loss.
DHS administers iCanConnect in South Dakota, helping address the telecommunications barriers and the isolation experienced daily by individuals with both hearing and vision loss. Through iCanConnect, South Dakotans who require special equipment to make a phone call, send an email or access the Internet, and meet income requirements, can receive that equipment – and one-on-one training – at no cost.
Partnerships that work
DakotaLink has been providing services to individuals with disabilities for nearly 30 years. As a key partner in the South Dakota Deaf-Blind program they have the staff and expertise to work with the consumers in this program.
“iCanConnect puts South Dakota’s deaf-blind on the same playing field, being able to communicate with family and friends.”
