Institute on Disabilities – Temple University

In Pennsylvania, the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University administers the iCanConnect program.

The goal of iCanConnect is to ensure that low-income individuals who have combined hearing and vision loss can access telephone, advanced communications and information services, which will help them make a phone call, send an email, access the Internet or use other communications technology to communicate with family, friends and community members.

Sandra McNally, the assistant director of AT Programs, says iCanConnect a good fit because the Institute already distributes telecommunication equipment to Pennsylvanians with disabilities. 

About the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University

Located within the College of Education at Temple University, the Institute maintains close partnerships with statewide advocacy and self-advocacy groups, centers for independent living, Pennsylvania’s Developmental Disabilities Council, The Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania, state government, specialized and generic service providers, the criminal justice system, and universities throughout Pennsylvania.

Since its founding in 1974, the Institute has provided exemplary training, technical assistance, quality assurance, research and related activities for and with people with disabilities.
